A Journey Shaped by African Experiences

My career has spanned wealth management, institutional advisory, and market development, including working with organisations expanding across African jurisdictions and supporting international investors seeking to engage meaningfully with the continent.

Along the way, I pursued doctoral research focused on how South African companies expand into the rest of Africa. That research confirmed what experience had already begun to show me: success in Africa is never accidental. It is intentional, localised, and relationship driven.

This realisation led me to write Doing Business in Africa, a book that translates both research and lived experience into practical insight for those navigating the continent’s opportunities and complexities.

Writing remains an important part of my work because it allows me to challenge prevailing narratives and offer grounded perspectives on governance, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth.

A BoardRoom Perspective

Serving as a Non Executive Director, including in the role of Board Chair, has deepened my belief that governance is not a compliance exercise. It is the mechanism through which organisations learn to mature, manage risk, and build credibility.

Boards are where strategy is tested against accountability. They are where founder driven enterprises evolve into enduring institutions.

My governance work focuses on helping organizations balance entrepreneurial agility with the discipline required to scale responsibly.

Championing Women's Financial Empowerment

Another defining thread in my journey has been working with women across Africa who are economically active yet often excluded from structured wealth creation.

Through coaching, speaking engagements, and the Women’s Perspectives platforms that I host annually, I work to support women in moving beyond income generation toward wealth protection, investment participation, and intergenerational security.

Financial empowerment is not simply about access to money. It is about confidence, education, and systems that allow women to retain and grow what they build.

Bridging Africa and the Global Financial System

In my role working with Jersey Finance and through my advisory platform RDK Capital, I help connect global capital to African opportunity in ways that are responsible, structured, and sustainable.

This work involves translating Africa to global investors, while equally ensuring that engagement respects local realities and contributes to long term development rather than short term extraction.
